Tray Whitening

Tray bleaching is a type of professional whitening that uses custom-made trays and whitening gel only available through your dentist. The gel is placed in the trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. As the peroxide in the gel breaks down, hydroxyradicals whiten your teeth.  The at home versions generally takes 10-14 days, although you may notice results in 3-5 days.

Teeth Whitening Strips

Teeth whitening strips are thin, flexible plastic strips with a thin film of hydrogen peroxide on one side. These kits come with two types of strips: one for the upper teeth and another for the lower teeth. The whitening agent is applied by placing the strips on your teeth and gently pressing into place. Teeth whitening strips are typically worn for 15-30 minutes/day, twice a day.

Toothpaste & Mouthwash

The least expensive options are whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes. Designed to have “whitening” capabilities, these options work to remove surface stains using mild abrasives. Unlike materials used in professional whitening procedures, these products do not lighten the color shade of the tooth. Whitening toothpastes affect surface stains and will mildly lighten your teeth.

Paint-On Teeth Whiteners

One type of readily accessible over-the-counter teeth whitening options is commonly referred to as a “paint-on” teeth whitener. Paint-on whiteners can be purchased over the counter and generally are less expensive and effective than whitening strips or professional options. Paint-on whiteners consist of a gel that’s applied to the tooth using a brush. Paint-on whitening gel hardens into a film that coats the teeth, and dissolves in the mouth.

Dental Veneers

Porcelain or composite resin veneers are a popular choice for fixing chipped teeth, gaps between teeth, misshaped or stained teeth that whitening can’t address.

The process to attach veneers is generally painless, similar to bonding treatments. Depending on your situation, you may undergo a local anesthetic to freeze the area of their mouth being worked on. Your dentist will remove a thin layer of enamel to provide enough room for the veneers to be applied. Then, your dentist will create a mold of your teeth so that the veneers fit their exact shape.

At Georgian Dental, our aim is to help our patients achieve optimal oral health and the type of smile that will help them feel their most confident every day. If you are ready to take the step toward enjoying straight teeth and a beautiful smile, then it’s time to sit down with a member of our team to discuss veneers and other options that can help you.
