The Most Popular Way to a Great Looking Smile

Metal braces are the most familiar type of braces for orthodontic patients. However, orthodontic designs have come a long way. Today’s metal braces are smaller, flatter, and more comfortable than in the past. Metal braces are chosen by patients of all ages in order to help them achieve straight, beautiful smiles. Ceramic braces are another great alternative that provide similar results. Discover more about Fast Braces, Traditional Metal Braces, Ceramic Braces, Lingual Braces, and Self-Ligating braces, to decide what type of braces are available at Barrie Dentist and right for you.

Straight Teeth in Less Time

Why wait for the perfect smile? Fast braces get you to the finish line faster!

Georgian Dental® is the first dental clinic in Muskoka-Simcoe County to introduce this proven method. Compared to conventional orthodontic therapy, Georgian Dental’s unique approach is able to achieve the desired results in about half the time and with noticeably less discomfort.

Dr. Tan’s unique method of Accelerated Orthodontics utilizes a combination of subsonic wave therapy and phototherapy with a unique orthodontic bracket design and innovative wire technology. The clever integration of these therapies helps encourage the movement of teeth within the jaw more quickly. As well, blood flow in the treatment areas is stimulated, helping the process to enable more efficient bone deposition for quicker results.

While Fast Braces are perfectly suitable for adults, this unique process works best in developing jaws found in pre-teens and teenaged patients.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable and compact today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth by using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile, personalized to your preferences. We also offer gold braces, which are very similar to traditional metal braces. Gold braces are made of stainless steel; and then coated in gold.

How Metal Braces Work?

The braces place a mild amount of constant pressure on your teeth. The force of this pressure helps gradually move teeth into the proper position. You might feel some tightness or a bit of discomfort at times, but it is a relatively painless process. At each appointment, your dentist will adjust or tighten the arch wires to help set them up for the next step in aligning your teeth. Each visit helps move the teeth further into the correct position and helps to confirm that the braces are working as intended until the final desired look is achieved.

Metal Braces and Costs

The cost of metal braces is determined by many factors and dependent on an individual’s dental assessment. Our team will work to create a plan tailored to your needs. This is an investment in your oral health, your confidence and a way to get that winning smile that you’ve always wanted. Contact Georgian Dental® today to arrange for a free no-obligation consultation to discuss your unique treatment plan, your desired results, and the associated costs you can expect.

Ceramic Braces (Clear)

Braces that Blend in with Your Natural Tooth Colour

Ceramic braces are made of clear or tooth-coloured materials and are much less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are often the preferred type for patients who have cosmetic concerns.

While they are visually less prominent, they do require a unique approach to oral hygiene, as the material and design of ceramic braces mean they have different characteristics than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more often on upper front teeth rather than on lower teeth.

Lifestyle & Ceramic Braces

While braces need to fit your teeth, they also need to suit your lifestyle. No matter the duration of your treatment, you should feel comfortable with your braces and have confidence in yourself at work, at school and in social situations.

Like metal braces, ceramic braces correct issues related to gaps, overcrowding and overlapping of teeth. The cost of ceramic braces can be slightly higher than metal braces, however many of our patients find that the additional investment is well worth it.

Ceramic braces do all the things stainless steel braces do, with the added benefit of a subtle appearance that blends into the tooth. Most of our patients marvel at how little clear ceramic braces affect their appearance, and are pleased with how they look while undergoing their orthodontic treatment.

Self-Ligating Braces

Self-ligating braces are made from the same materials as traditional braces; however, self-ligating braces feature a unique bracket design that does not require the use of elastics. This means fewer appointments and less friction being placed on the tooth.

Self-ligating braces come with traditional metal, ceramic, or clear brackets. They are the same size as metal braces, but they use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide teeth into place. The clip helps reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth and requires fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.
